I'm not sure how the new MSIX regs are going to play out in most states, but I think the timeliness requirements are going to present the greatest challenges. All MIS2000 systems are capable of collecting the full MSIX MDE list, and they'll all send the data to MSIX easily within the time requirements. But this still leaves the question of getting the data into MIS2000. I think in many states the data for Assessments and Course History may not have been entered into any system within the required time limits. This means that manually collecting the data and entering it into MIS2000 may often be the only solution.
Some states may be able to get the data via their state level student data system or warehouse. If so, we can implement fully automated processes to import this data into MIS2000 and up to MSIX as soon as it's available. We've recently implemented a system like this for South Dakota. From the perspective of MIS2000, we can receive data as often as multiple times each day and get it sent up to MSIX the same evening. In South Dakota we're doing this with both Assessments and Course History. We're getting the data via their state level student data warehouse which was implemented by OtisEd. They've done data warehouse projects for other states and I've been talking with them about implementing a similar system for other MIS2000 states that they serve as well. Unfortunately this is only a handful at best.
On the bright side, projects like this should be fully covered by the recent Data Quality Grants that have been made available by OME. If you'd like to discuss getting a project like South Dakota's moving, get in touch with me and we'll start working through the options for your state.
