If you aren't already familiar with the Resources part of MIS2000, you should take a look at Jay's post for a general overview. Tennessee uses their resources to share a variety of reports and spreadsheets with LEAs around the state.
But they actually have some spreadsheets that they want to not only share with people but to allow them to edit them as well. They have always been able to do this but it required the remote users to download the spreadsheet from MIS2000 Resources, then edit the spreadsheet using Excel, then re-upload it back into Resources, overwriting the one that was there. They wondered if it was possible for them to allow these users to edit the spreadsheet directly in the web browser, right in the MIS2000 web app.
We're happy to say we've found a way to make that possible. It's still a bit rough around the edges, but it fulfills the basic need.
In general, it's better to collect your data inside MIS2000 itself, but sometimes that's just not practical. Sometimes an Excel spreadsheet is just the way to go. And now MIS2000 can make that a little easier to manage.
